Overview
Hidden on a quiet street only a few blocks away from Taipei Main Station, Lao Tai Ke Noodle Shop is a small noodle shop known for its Signature Sichuan Peppercorns Dry Noodles. The noodles are tossed with the shop’s house-made sauce, giving them a fragrant, slightly numbing peppercorn kick.
With only around 15 seats, the shop can fill up quickly during lunch and dinner, so seeing a line outside is not unusual. Inside, the atmosphere is casual and relaxed, with nostalgic Taiwanese decorations that make the place feel like a modern version of an old-fashioned neighborhood noodle shop.

Sean’s Review

This is what the noodles look like when they’re served. Be sure to stir everything together well with your chopsticks so the minced meat and sauce are evenly coated throughout the noodles.

That’s it! Now enjoy!

August 20, 2026 : Signature Sichuan Peppercorns Dry Noodles
Although this dry noodle dish is seasoned with Sichuan peppercorns, it isn’t spicy at all. The combination of the meat sauce and Sichuan peppercorns gives the noodles a slightly numbing sensation without overwhelming the other flavors.
My favorite part is the noodles. They use wide, chewy noodles with a really satisfying bite. The savory meat sauce and subtle numbing sensation from the Sichuan peppercorns work especially well with the thick noodles. It’s simple, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying.
