Overview
Shilin Uncle Tofu Pudding (士林伯豆花) has been serving traditional tofu pudding in Shilin Night Market since 1981. This is a shop my family has known for decades. My mother has been eating here since she was in middle school.
What stands out most is the tofu pudding’s distinctive smoky flavor. This old-fashioned taste develops when soy milk is heated in a large pot and a thin layer at the bottom becomes slightly scorched, creating a subtle toasted, smoky aroma that carries into the tofu pudding.
When ordering, you can choose from traditional toppings such as red beans, mung beans, tapioca pearls, aiyu jelly (愛玉), and taro balls, along with seasonal toppings such as mango jelly and mitaimu (米苔目).

Sean’s Review

The shop currently does not have a paper menu and serves only three items: shaved ice, mung bean soup, and tofu pudding. To order the tofu pudding, you can simply point to it on the sign.

For tofu pudding, you can pick two toppings.

I visited the shop during the summer. In summer, the tofu pudding is always served with ice

The toppings I picked : mango jelly and tangyuan. You can ask the staff to refill the ice once it melts

Shilin Night Market is very close to my grandmother’s house, so I’ve been coming here with my family since I was a kid. This tofu pudding shop is one of the places I have to visit every time I come to the night market.
What I love most is the tofu pudding’s distinctive slightly scorched flavor, which is a characteristic of old-fashioned Taiwanese tofu pudding. They also offer far more toppings than most tofu pudding shops, with some changing according to the season. For example, when I visited this summer, they had seasonal toppings such as mango jelly and aiyu jelly.
